Recently, the final of the 5th China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (Shandong Division) came to an end. Yantai Bandung Vacuum Metallurgy Co., Ltd., an enterprise in Yantai Development Zone, stood out from 1552 participating projects and won the championship in the new materials group by virtue of the project of "R & D and industrialization of short process technology for high-speed railway chromium zirconium copper contact wire and wire bar above 350 km/h.

"Made in Yantai" chromium-zirconium-copper contact wire has higher safety, reliability, stability, and energy-saving effect than copper-magnesium contact wire, and the market demand is huge. This new ultra-long wire can meet the safe operation of high-speed rail 500km per hour. If all the existing 19000 kilometers of high-speed rail lines in operation in the country use chromium-zirconium-copper contact lines, it can save 21.6 billion kWh of electricity per year, which is equivalent to the annual power generation of three nuclear power plants with a power of 1.2 million kilowatts, 2.6614 million tons of converted coal, and about 6.63 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions. Tons, that is, to reduce the amount of forest logging of 6.63 million hectares, while greatly reducing the operating cost of high-speed rail, and helping the country's grand plan.

During the construction of the project, it has received strong support from the Provincial Science and Technology Department, municipal authorities, banks, etc. in land supply, power matching, and start-up funds.
